RFID CD and DVD Tags
CD and DVD control and management has never been easier to implement and obtain excellent results. SkyRFID provides HF RFID CD and DVD label tags and long read range UHF RFID CD and DVD label tags.
These CD and DVD tags are easy to peel and stick onto virtually any CD or DVD and protect your assets. Libraries currently using a HF RFID system can simply peel and stick these tags onto their CD and DVD collection and use the same hardware without any changes.
High Frequency 13.56 MHz.
This example of our High Frequency RFID CD DVD tags from UPM Raflatac is very easy to use provide excellent control of audio and video disks.
While the examples clearly show the actual IC and antenna, SkyRFID can also provide these tags as circular white blank labels or labels with your company or institution name and logo on them for ease in identification.
Or you can simply use them as they are shown in the picture. Visible RFID tags can discourage theft as they are a reminder that the disk is secured by radio frequency.
Since these tags are actually labels we can provide them with a paper surface or a longer wearing gloss polyester coating identical to our standard library label line.
This is the Texas Instrument version of the CD DVD 13.56 MHz. tag. While this tag looks different from the UPM Raflatac tag they are identical in frequency but there may be a minor difference in the read range as the UPM is copper and the TI is silver. Both of these tags are also fully ISO 15693 compliant.
Ultra High Frequency Gen 2 860 ~ 960 MHz.
When the requirement is to use Gen 2 UHF tags then SkyRFID can supply you with both UHF Near Field short read range tags as shown in the picture at the left or:
An maximum of about 2 - 3 feet high speed read distance with a white gloss polyester Far Field UHF 900 DVD or CD Label. This distance is attained using a fixed reader and our special CD/DVD Tag.
The read distance changes with different disk manufacturer's as each disk can have a different metallic content which reduces this read distance.
Asset management for retail, libraries, museums, archive backups, virtually any application that uses optical storage disks can use these long read distance RFID UHF tags.
Using a fixed reader and having the entrance and exit doors equipped with UHF antenna, any disk going in or out will be read easily, conveniently and quickly to record the event. If required you can use a digital I/O board to sound an alarm or lock the exit and entrance doors automatically, or have a pre-recorded message play from the location sound system advising of the potential problem.
